Leak of Radioactive Water Stopped at Japan n-plant

Tokyo, April 6 (IANS) The outflow of highly radioactive water from the stricken Fukushima nuclear power plant into the Pacific Ocean has stopped after the injection of a chemical agent, the plant's operator said Wednesday.

The Tokyo Electric Power Co. said experts injected sodium silicate - also known as "water glass" - and another agent near a seaside pit where the highly radioactive water had been seeping through to the ocean, Xinhua reported.

The nuclear plant had been severely damaged by the March 11 magnitude-9 earthquake and ensuing tsunami. Three of its reactors had exploded while a fourth one had caught fire.
