Mangalore: Zimmer Mobile Learning Centre in City to Train Ortho Surgeons, Paramedics

Mangalore, Apr 7: Zimmer Mobile Learning Centre, a state-of-the-art van reached Karnataka on Wednesday April 6 and was parked in Unity Hospital, Tejasvini Hospital and A J Institute of Medical Sciences on Thursday April 7 wherein the orthopaedic surgeons and paramedics will be trained on joint replacements and trauma procedures.

Earlier on Wednesday, the mobile van was parked at Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal in Udupi district, wherein 26 orthopaedic surgeons and post graduation students were given similar trainings.

The Zimmer Mobile Learning Centre provides state-of-the-art training to young orthopaedic surgeons and paramedical staff in caring for patients in need of basic orthopaedic surgeries related to arthroplasty as well as trauma procedures.  Through its numerous public forums, the Zimmer Mobile Training Centre also provides patients with information and insights into the leading edge treatment for joint replacements to help them make educated decisions about the course of treatment.

Sanjay Banerjee, managing director of Zimmer India Private Limited, said, ‘This initiative is yet another contributions by Zimmer in its role as responsible corporate citizen towards capacity building in form of trained surgeons and paramedical personnel enabling them to serve orthopaedic patients better.  For this target group which otherwise may be constrained by time away from workplace for attending such programmes, it shall provide a cost-effective access to high quality learning opportunities and updated training curriculum.’

The mobile van will reach Bangalore on Saturday April 9 before heading for Mysore and Hyderabad.
