Manmohan Lookalike Supports Hazare

New Delhi, April 7 (IANS) With his blue turban and starched white kurta-pyjama, 62-year-old Gurmeet Singh looks every bit like Prime Minister Manmohan Singh! Little wonder then that when he reached Jantar Mantar here Thursday to lend his support to social activist Anna Hazare, he created quite a flutter.

"Arre, Manmohan Singh aaya hai! (Manmohan Singh has come!)," screamed one supporter as he saw a glimpse of Gurmeet.

Soon, people were jostling to click his picture or shake hands with the 'prime minister'.

A social worker, Gurmeet took all the fanfare in his stride as he looked at the cameras and waved in the signature style of the prime minister.

"I have come to support Anna Hazare and I think that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should also listen to him and support him. Every citizen of the country today is supporting this fight against corruption," Gurmeet said.

Thursday is the third day of the 72-year-old social activist's fast-unto-death.

Anna Hazare is demanding that the Lokpal (ombudsman) bill be given more teeth so it can effectively tackle corruption in public life.
