Mangaluru, Aug: St Christopher Association Mangaluru held a programme to felicitate talented children of its members and provide scholarships to them at Rosario Cultural Hall here on August 8.
Chief guest for the programme, managing director of Daijiworld Media Private Limited, Walter Nandalike called upon the students to walk towards their goals with a positive attitude. "We may come across a lot of negativities in the society. We will be successful when we focus only on the positive and move forward. No matter in which sector you secure degrees, make use of the opportunities available in the government or big companies,” he said.
Another guest in the programme, director of St Antony’s Ashram, Fr J B Crasta said that students should listen to the guidance and suggestions of elders, irrespective of their caste and creed, obtain education and be successful in their lives.
Parish priest of Rosario church, Fr Alfred J Pinto who presided over the programme said that St Christopher Association had made special contributions towards the welfare of its members, their families and society. “It is an organization of vehicle owners and drivers. Their responsibility and character have greatly influenced society. May the organization reach greater heights in the future,” he said.
Honorary president Sushil Noronha introduced the talented students and the children of the members who received scholarships.
President Professor John Edward D’Silva welcomed and gave an introduction. Secretary Sunil Lobo proposed a vote of thanks. Vice president John Baptist Gomes and co-secretary Jerald D’ Souza were present on the dais. Lancy D’ Cunha compered the programme.
A holy mass was celebrated at Rosario Church prior to the programme. Fr J B Crasta blessed the vehicles on the occasion.
