Mangalore, Apr 8:
In yet another case of alleged conversion, as many as 41 children were stopped by a group of Bajrang Dal activists when they were waiting for the bus at PVS circle to take them to their native places.

The children, inmates of Stella Maris orphanage in Kotekar, were about to board the bus here on Friday April 8 to take them to their home district Bidar, when they were stopped and questioned by the activists.

The activists alleged that the orphanage had been involved in acts of conversion, and claimed that they grew suspicious after observing and talking to the children.

The activists then informed the officials of women and child welfare department officials. Child welfare committee president Asha Nayak arrived at the spot to make preliminary investigation.

The children were taken to the remand home in Bondel, Kavoor, temporarily.

The orphanage has been functioning for the past 60 years, and on demand by the child welfare committee, the sister in charge produced relevant legal documents in this regard to prove that the orphanage was registered and the children were not illegally confined.

Asha Nayak and assistant commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatte visited the orphanage to verify the documents. After a thorough discussion, they concluded that all the documents were in place and decided to send the children back to the orphanage.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Sr Christine Misquith, head of Carmel Vocational Institute, Bidar, said that orphans and children from poor families are frequently sent to Stella Maris for providing them better education and opportunities.

She asserted that the orphanage has legal documents validating its mission to provide education to poor children from standard 4 to 7, and has been doing so with the help of grants from state government's minorities and backward classes welfare department.

Cheap and mean people are afraid of education. Basically nobody can convert anybody. In fact, conversion happens within. Lets not divert people to some petty issues to cover a very important cause brought up by Anhna and the masses. Lets concentrate on development of India by watching and stopping corruption, rather than involving in petty issues.

Dear nuns keep up the good work you do, just think that this is another type of WAY OF THE CROSS. Just remember what Jesus got in return for the good things he did for the poor n needy? We the Christians have tolerance power, just thank God for giving this opportunity during this lent season from unjust people. These BD, VHP, RSS cannot bend even a single hair without Gods permission. This is politically motivated agenda and we are not supposed to make any mistake, they are waiting for a opportunity to accuse us. During final judgment they will pay the price. These Asha Nayak and assistant commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatte are involved with these people, The Guys who are in picture are the same who where at Lanclot Pinto's Ashraya. Dear friends,

It is important for all of us to understand that true Christian faith does not recognize any branded "religion" including so called Christian religion nor does it stereotype religious practices/rituals of any kind. True Christian faith is all about conversion of souls against sin, Social, Educational and Economic development of underprivileged people through sacrifice and selfless service of genuine Christians and finally struggle against oppression and exploitation of mankind.

However, over centuries, the so called custodians of religions in different multi-denominations have hijacked the faith and presented as their own distint brand with diluted Christian values, which has caused suspecions in the minds of people. Consequently, the good and the bad has mixed so badly that it has caused an uncurable cancerous discease like "Leukamia". The only outcome possible is that either replace the infected blood entirely or let the body die.

The fear and concern of these so called groups BD,RSS and VHP is from the minority community counting only 2.5% population of the country is out numbering the majority population in the country in differnt fields, such as education, social work and health etc etc. They are not concern about the conversion nor the the poor people and their education.

They are fearing about the popularity that the minority community get in all these fields,so they are hell-bent on to eradicate the good work done by minorities. They tried their best to trouble muslims and Sikhs several times but only burnt their hands, after the terrorist attacks on the country they are fearing to near them. The world is watching the brutality against minorities in India. These people make their own communty to suffer, the day will come for the Indian Hindus find difficult to enter any other country in the world if these groups act is not controlled.

Uneducated people don’t want their children to get education so that they may hate other communities. Whenever Christians does good work, they will use conversion label to have sympathy of mass Hindus. There is a hidden agenda behind this, now there are lots of dissident activities in ruling party in the state, they want to divert public mind during this time.

Police are playing a nuetral role, if it was some farmers they would have kicked them out and might have used Lathi to disperse them. Bajrang Dal is policing Mangalore and actual police force is inactive. When religious matters comes all congress & JDS parties takes neutral stand and they remember Christian only during elections. Police don’t have guts to speak against or take action against Bajrang Dal, RSS & VHP, they are good for wiping poor farmers…...

Once it is done, children are allowed to proceed. Mind you, these BD activists were successful in preventing many centres being used for illegal activities. They are also ensuring that illegal transport of cows for slaughter in the state is stopped. I am sure the day is not far away when they will target hospitals run by christian charitable trusts blaming conversion. There are many poor christian families in and around mangalore. We can help them instead of helping people from other religion. It's high time our religious heads follow all the rules and regulations of this land and there is no need to convert any one. I think most of the comments about this article are biased. First of all - if any orphanage is well registered, and not involved in any illegal activities like conversion etc. there is no need to fear from any section. See, BD activists might have got some information that there is conversion activities going on - so they took this step. If there is no such activities and the centre is legally registered, then nobody can stop this centre from functioning. That is the rule of law for all including BD etc. By the way of the so called "New Life......" also have many centres in and around Mangalore where conversion activity is undertaken!

My dear fellow commentators-just because some people from majority community are targeting us- we really cannot abandon our Master who gave life(sacrificed)for those-whom, society had abandoned.
How can we follow in Jesus's foot steps & discriminate on any basis(religion, caste, creed or colour). So let us continue with our good work irrespectice of boquets or brick bats- our reward is reserved in heaven, not in this world.
TRUTH WILL PREVAIL-Don't worry about these petty setbacks or troubles-if Mother Theresa too had abandoned her charitable work because of these nuisances then she wouldn't have been a Saint today.

BTW Do you know Laxmi Mittal, Vijay Mallaya, Mukesh Ambani studied in Christain Institutes. Even today's icon MS Dhone is planning to complete his graduation from Xaviers Ranchi. Even L K Advani studied at St Patricks (Karachi). Unless the least of us progresses India will become a developed nation. Thank you BD for opening the eye of the Dumb Mangalorean community!!
Few days ago when an Orphanage in Mulki was attacked , Christians commented so badly about the organization stating that they belong to some other sect etc etc etc ..

Now when a Christian organization is attacked , then we realize and comment that BD is not a religious party !! They are a group of Anti social uneducated people who like to disturb the peace of Mangalore!!
Hindus ,Muslims and other religion people ,remember you also would not be spared and will be targetted in the name of religion and caste!!

I agree with BD's 1 comment that " We need to guard our culture ".!!! Yes Mangaloreans , Anti social elements , drunkards and goons were never a part of our Indian culture !!! So Mangloreans unite to get rid of the unwanted scum of the earth!!!!

Finally they failed seeing that they cannot take care of the cows left at the police station.I remember few of these Cow Policing done by BD which failed miserably. NOw they are in Moral policing which will fail in due course. One Person has commented praising the BD. A Body that is communal and life threatening to mankind receive shameless comments from the readers, itself shows the fear he has. It is time that our Christian brethren send the Hindu Poor and Needy to the Government Run Orphanages or Hindu Managed Orphanages. We have enough of our own people to take care. These things are really getting out of hand these days. There are lot of social activities which can be looked into by Bajrang Dal. Like the latest corruption bill thing. They can join hands with the youth and fight against corruption at present instead of these unnecessary things. I know we Christians love India much more than these useless "SANGHA's". And my message for my brothers and sisters in Christ is there are lot of Christian people around us who need help. Let us start focusing on them. I understand your work and feelings. But whatever we do is considered a big crime. So let us first improve our community and God will help us.

Why are you & your cronies jealous of the good work done by the members of the Christian Community? It is evident that the BD, SRS & other outfits are known to engage & create vandalism, attacks & nonsense on Christianity & the Community across Mangalore. If you people have any decency, etiquette or courage left in you, why don’t you resort to your stupidity & nonsense in other places across India? It is easier for you people to find fault in other people's actions or methods than to do it properly or correctly yourself!

If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.

People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.

There are sufficient number of kids belonging to christian community whom you care and not the Hindus. Conversion is wrong if its done by catholics but its right if its done by Hindus. Thats the level of reasoning today.I sincerely request christian brothers and sisters to do service to catholic community only and not to people of other religion as they look each and every issue of our service to society as an opportunity to harp on conversion.

Before checking the credintials of these orphanage it is very important to check the credintials of BD. It is not a registered body and they are under severe fear of losing their identity. So they are busy going around finding out the christian managed charitable centre where the needy and poor are taken care irrespective of their religion.

It is pure publicity that BD is wanting to gain. Even the govt officials cannot question the BD as they will complain to BJP ministers and they get transferred to a remote place. I think now every state requires a ANNA HAZARE to fight these goons who just walk in without notice. To me it looks like they have round the clock kept their people to spy on us.

IT is time that the christians just take care of their christian brethrens. It will take some years before the BD is crushed to pieces by their own community. The country is moving into a better future and I feel it will start from Delhi and will take years to reach south.

And when it comes to a christian poor child charitable institutes demand for higher donations, because the childs uncle or some relative is in gulf country.  Let us focus only on christians.

If BD is bent on striking on every orphanage or children homes run by Christians alleging conversion, the CWC and the concerned persons should also make a thorough investigation about hundreds of students belonging to Seng Khasi and Niamtre tribes of Meghalaya.

These students are brought in hundreds and then divided into groups of 14-15 and they are being admitted to almost 35 schools in undivided Dakshina Kannada district. Both these tribes do not follow Hinduism and they follow their indigenous religions. RSS sevaks under the leadership of Tukaram Shetty are bringing these children making them to journey around 50 hours on train and in the schools and at places where they stay, they are being fed with the tenets of Hinduism.

Some of the prestigious institutions of DK spread across Puttur, Uppoor, Moodbidri, Kaup, Kalladka, Kollur etc. These children live and breathe, eat and sleep and study on that same barren floor. Isn't this inhuman? Whey the govt and all the concerned dept are silent on this issue? The issue had raked up big time in 2009 in Udupi when the then CWC member had almost unearthed this illegal child trafficking at Thenkanidiyur School. Finally when about 15 of these children were to be presented before the CWC, local MLA Raghupathi Bhat scuttled the move and prevented the Brahmavar police from taking the children before CWC.

Why everyone is silent about this? Would someone dare to make a report on this? Why only target Christian institutions?

When ever the right wing activists see the Christians serving the poor they think its done with a motive of conversion.

By doing good to the society if we Roam catholics are targeted we should only work for the betterment of our own Christian brothers & sisters.... lets just get concerned of our own people & not others.... There are wealthy people in the right wing they are capable of doing good of their own people. Why get harnessed for doing something good its better we work for the welfare of our own people.

What is happening in our managalore, every thing is under BDS control? What eminent persoanlites of managlore are doing?
Is our district incharge minister is aware of all these things?
Not a single statement from adminstration on all these issues?
Is adminstration has handed over to all thier responsibilites to BD?
