Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 8: Dakshina Kannada on Monday August 8, reported ten new coronavirus cases while eight cases were registered in Udupi.

The total number of positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,36,356 out of which 83 are currently active. As many as 13 patients were discharged on August 8.

The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,855.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distancing in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authorities.

Positivity rate for the day stood at 1.81 percent.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,05,880 as fine in 96,212 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

Eight coronavirus cases were reported on August 8. The total active Covid cases are 32.

A total of 10,90,099 people have received the first dose of vaccination and 10,83,513 have received both doses and 1,91,543 people have received booster doses.

Udupi reported two cases, Kundapur four and Karkala added one. One case was from other district.
