Mangaluru, Aug 9: “Har Ghar Tiranga campaign has been decided to be held on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of India’s independence. But a clear guideline should be give on this. There are many issues in the flags that have arrived now. In addition, the flag is being sold at various rates. First proper implementation needs to be done before announcement and propaganda. Some people do not have houses at all. Where they will hoist the flag? So those who do not house should not celebrate this campaign?” questioned deputy leader of opposition in assembly and MLA U T Khader.
Addressing media, he further said, “Amendment is made to the Indian national flag. Instead of Khadi, it is decided to use polyester cloth. This move of the union government is an insult to the freedom movement. The national flag is not a mere cloth. Khadi is the mother root of this country. It is not right to import polyester from overseas and stock.
“The wheel that is used to weave Khadi is not just a symbol. That is the symbol of throwing away anarchy. In this country whichever government ruled, it used to encourage Khadi production. Khadi contains the symbol of sacrifice of the people who fought for the freedom of this country. We speak of swadeshi in our words but do Videshi when implementing. Permission is given to import polyester from China. This is a huge profit to China, wholesale and garment business. This decision which lacks clarity is an insult to the whole country. Central government should relook into this matter and give importance to Khadi,” he said.
