Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 9: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday August 9, reported five new coronavirus cases while four cases were registered in Udupi.
The total number of positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,36,361 out of which 64 are currently active. As many as 23 patients were discharged on August 9.
The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,856, one death reported on Tuesday.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distancing in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authorities.
Positivity rate for the day stood at 0.74 percent.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,05,880 as fine in 96,212 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
Four coronavirus cases were reported on August 9. The total active Covid cases are 34.
A total of 10,90,109 people have received the first dose of vaccination and 10,83,603 have received both doses and 1,93,085 people have received booster doses.
Udupi reported three cases and one case was from other district.
