Mangaluru, Aug 10: Former senate member of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) and principal of Padmashree College of Physiotherapy, Bengaluru, Dr Praveen Aaron inaugurated a two-day RGUHS Mysore zone intercollegiate chess tournament 2022-2023 here at Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy on Wednesday August 10.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Praveen Aaron said, “I am privileged to be part of this sports and games event. Chess is believed to have its origin from the Indian subcontinent. It is a game of intellectuals. Chess requires skills and quality in a meticulous way. It also requires patience and careful observation. Players need to take responsibility for their actions. That also teaches you life’s principles.”
As many as 22 boys and 9 girls have registered for the chess tournament.
Trustee of Dr MV Shetty Memorial Trust Dr Divyanjali Shetty, national arbitrator Prasanna Rao, and sports coordinator of Mysore zone Dr Suresh were present.
Principal of Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy Prof L Gladson Jose welcomed the gathering, physical director of Dr M V Shetty Group Of Colleges Jayaprasad M rendered the vote of thanks and Prashida Koirala compered the event.
