Mangaluru, Aug 12: The accusation of possessing assets disproportionate to income against the deputy director of food and civil supplies was proved in the third additional district and sessions court. The convict is sentenced to 3.6 years simple imprisonment and Rs 50 lac fine.
Rathnakara Naika, who was working as deputy director in the food and civil supplied department is the accused who is convicted.
A case on Rathnakara Naika was registered in Karnataka Lokayukta police station of possessing more assets than his income. The case was inquired by justice B B Jakati. Rathnakara Naika was sentenced to 3.6 years of simple imprisonment according to column 13 (1)(e) and 13(2) anti bribe act of 1988. In addition, Rs 50 lac fine was slapped on the convict. If he fails to pay the fine, he has to undergo six months of additional simple imprisonment.
