Mangaluru: MCC taking road repairs seriously after criticisms over pothole death

Mangaluru, Aug 12: The Mangaluru City Corporation in a media communique has clarified that despite highest rainfall in its limits, the repair work on potholes have been undertaken from time to time. MCC has also stated that at the same time, the works on 24x7 water supply, gas pipeline connection are going on. The department concerned is taking up the restoration of roads dug up for water supply and gas connection works.

Citing that MCC has NHAI and PWD roads in its limits, it says that inorder to maintain the condition of roads, time to time meetings are held and departments concerned directed to do the needful.

If the public has any complaints over potholes or illegal road digging inconveniencing them, they may complain on WhatsApp number 9449007722 and helpline number 0824-2220306 or contact the ward engineers concerned, MCC has said in a statement.

    I think we need better roads which do not break on rains Every effort must be made to construct good roads Then only our roads will be safe We need safer roads and better safety signs on road

    In olden days Kings giving BALI before start any work... i think our MCC too following this tradition... they only wok up after somebody get killed bcoz of potholes / ill roads...

    Dam Mangalore ,no ,they didnt wake up ,still in slumber ,but pressure is now too much .Have to bend that.But you see the work will not be good only will be cover up ,till the next pothole.arise in next monsoon or earlier.

    It is a relief that authorities have finally woken up.... But I reiterate that our speed and behavior on road is far more important in preventing mishaps... Civilian roads are not race tracks... Especially in city limits we only move a bit faster than walking to reach a bit earlier... I have witnessed rash driving nature in most riders... Especially more true in case of gear less scooters....

    Why have NHAI and PWS roads inside the city.Having these so called highway roads inside the city has caused numerous accidents and deaths and theMCC says hat they have no jurisidction on these. For example nanthoor area residents suffer because of no foothpaths and overspeeding of vehicles despite the fact that there are more than 5 educational institutions in the vicinity. Our mangalore people should unite and force the government to build bypass roads for Highways so that these sort of accidents are minimised.

    Nothing but eye wash. Just to please to some protesters. Why MCC or DC I not taking any actions against contractors??? Who responsible for this types of holes on the road?? Take action against representatives. BJP is telling that Kejriwal is spending our tax paid money by giving freebies. What about this??? IS IT NO TAX PAID MONEY????

    Why should the citizens keep on complaining to deaf ears to people in authority. Why can’t the PWD personnel see the craters on the main roads just as responsible citizens see.? I should state here that a legislation should be passed on the negligent attitude and negligence of PWD and the concerned Municipal authorities in the districts of Mangalore and Udupi for not carrying out continuous maintenance of all roads as citizens are paying thru another authority called Road Transport Dept or Traffic Dept so much of money for registration of all types of vehicles and PUC and in penalties,etc. Therefore, the Central government should penalise the non active authorities whose responsibility and liability is to take care of the roads that bring in the huge income.. simply complaining and simply announcing by the authorities is what makes our country a Third world nation. Time to change to First world standards in our deeds too,

    So it takes "death" to wake up officials. The problem is nobody is suing them for the negligence. Happens only in India , whereby everything is taken for granted. If they sue and go to courts, it will take over 50 years for it to be settled. Great elephant moving India! WAKE UP! It is your right to tackle this menace. It is your money which the officials are getting paid to do their duty. Let's CHANGE our way of thinking and culture for our own betterment and uplift rather than touch the feet of officials who get paid with your own money. Let them touch your feet now as they are nothing superior and have the same blood & flesh as you.
