Mangalore, Apr 11: Good number of devotees was seen at the inauguration of Sri Ramotsava organized by Sri Ramotsava Samiti, in association with Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal.

The event was observed in a grand manner at the Nehru Maidan here on Monday April 11. This will continue for another three-days. The uniqueness of the event this year is that all festivities and rituals will be held in a specially-erected palace for Lord Ram to be conclude with symbolic burning of a 60-feet tall effigy of demon king Ravana, made by artisans from Kolkata Wednesday on April 13.

All rituals would be carried out under the guidance of Vedic scholar Giridhar Bhat. Special poojas would be offered in the afternoon and at night and prasad will be distributed to the devotees on the venue.

With a view to instill the exemplary values Rama stood for in the younger generation and also to revive the long-pending plan for building the Ram temple at Ayodhya by statutory ways, this Ramotsava is held at every district centre.

Shri Ramadeva pratishte and religious meet was held on Monday. Kabaddi and other games will be held on Tuesday April 12 and Shri Shrinivas Kalyanotsava and religious meet followed by burning of Ravana effigy on the last day, Wednesday April 13.

    @Ashok, Dubai.
    Agreed India is a Traditionally, Secular, Hindu Country.
    In spite of that why do you toil in an insecure, fundamentalist Muslim country?
    Can’t you find a suitable job in your own secular Hindu country?
    @The Guru, Mangalore.

    Dear brothers,(Pinto,L.N Tauro)any functions be it religious or social or political nature in N.Maidan needs an NOC from Police department and as well as from DC I guess(because it is religious function by BD in particular. Neharu Maidan is open to all for all sects of the society provided it will not provoke any untoward incidents.

    Coming to the point of Mr Ashok Dubai, yes it is by and large majority Hindu country but all others sections of society's interest are safe gaurded by Constitutuion of India.But Guru you always making Gutur gutur.....which is not correct.For every activities in public be it Hindu or Muslim or Christians there is established rules,regulations, diciplne and conditions of Dist Admin has to be followed.

    Mr MVV, Managlore Both gentlemen (L.Tauro and Tony Pinto)are not intolerence against any religion but yes against VHP and BD in particular.

    Relax ! have a Happy Ram Navami.

    Hindus do not need any license to follow thier religious activities anywhere in this country, after all what they are doing in Nehru maidan is not a convertion activity.
