Sullia man accidentally slips to death from 2nd floor while hoisting national flag in Bengaluru

Sullia, Aug 16: A 33-year-old software engineer of Sullia accidentally slipped to death from the second floor of a building where he lived in Hennur, Bengaluru while trying to hoist the national tri-colour as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.

The deceased is Vishwesh Kumar, son of Narayana Bhat who lived in a rented house near the Boodu Bhagavathi temple in Sullia of Dakshina Kannada district. Vishwesh originally belonged to Yettukallu of Vittal and was of a priest descendent.

Vishwesh was working in a private company in Bengaluru and was living in Hennur HRBR Layout 5th block in a two-storeyed building. He was living on the ground floor with wife, a two-year-old daughter and his parents. Narayana Bhat who lived in Sullia had relocated to Bengaluru after his son had found employment in the city. Vishwesh Kumar had shifted to Bengaluru following his marriage two years back.

Hennur police in Bengaluru have registered a case.

    You are absolutely right. The national flag is a symbol only. What is important is love for the fellow man and service, tolerance, friendship etc. I , as a person who once witnessed the unfurling of the tri-coloured national flag 75 years ago, we were over joyous then. There were relatives, parents, school teachers , rich, poor , Hindus, Muslims and Christians etc. we were all patriots and all were equal . So you don’t have to display externally your emotions to indicate you are a patriot! Bye.

    The true Indian is one who contributes to society in different forms, may be economically or politically or spiritually. Just by hoisting the flag in home I don't think we will be a true Indian. BJP everytime comes with innovative ideas which takes human lives.

    RIP bro!! The other day I saw a viral video of a young man who got charred to death when he came in contact with a live HT line while hoisting the national Flag; there would be definitely many more unreported cases from rural areas of such tragedies; all because many youths got so carried away with the hype that was created and tried to hoist the national Flag throwing caution to the winds! Now who will compensate for these type of innocent patriots??

    Life is more precious than Nation or Flag. For me my health, life and my family are at first place. If i am able to keep these well, indirectly I am keeping my nation well. I did not hoist any flag yesterday, but love towards my nation, state, district, language are at my heart.

    Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign......Is a welcome matter to create a better interface between the fag and love for nation. Observe the manner in which people and institutions put up flags wit wide enthusiasm. Perhaps as years go by and the high status of the flag and due respect to it filters down better it will give a better insight and perception to denizens all over India. While handling the India National Flag some understanding of the correctness is essential. Selecting a proper place to fly the flag requires thought. Too high a place and hidden by trees or walls, the angle to place the flag, the fitting of the flag (avoiding sewage pipes, lamp posts etc) is vital. Hope that more care will come about in future.

    Due to flag hoisting call by Modi lot of people died either by electrocuting or falling. People need to be very careful. Just by flag hoisting you cannot be called desh bhakth. Show your desh bhakthi by doing good deeds to your fellow Indian. Be human first. Fake nationalism is gift of BJP. Gandhiji didnot wanted this kind of fake nationalism. These politicians need to be non corrupt, build good roads and serve the people without looking at caste/creed/religion then only you will be called desh bhakths. Now you all are deshdrohis as you are acting against our constitution.

    So far no word about visit by any politician & compensation..., (not sure such visit happen based on political mileage or otherwise... let us wait and see patriotism prevail over politics)... Compensation too is a factor to reckon....

    In my student days I had joined NCC which inculcated the way of nationalism, patriotism and resepcting the symbols of them like fĺag. But sad to see these sacred symbols are misused by some politicians for their selfish aggrandizement. I see in some homes uneven torn flags still hanging today also which is a punishable offence according to the flag law. Hope this won't continue any more which is disrespectful act due to ignorance but created by selfish politicians who doesn't respect their motherland.
