Sullia: Mother, upset with crying child, brands her with hot iron rod

Sullia, Aug 18: In a barbaric act reported from the taluk a mother branded her four-and-a-half-year-old girl child with a hot iron rod to silence her constant crankiness.

The girl child received six burn injuries on the body. It is learnt that the woman is a resident of Navoor in Gandhinagar of the city. She is married off to a man from Kerala. It is learnt that she came to her mother’s house at Sullia three months ago along with the child.

Sullia CDPO Rashmi Nekraje visited the house of the accused based on the information provided by the locals. The child is admitted to Sullia government hospital under the care of CDPO. The child has received six burn injuries including one on face.

On inquiry, the mother said that she could not bear her continuous tantrums and did the act to silence her. Information is relayed on to the police by the CDPO. It is said that the incident took place six days ago.

    many here are trying to defend this mother of her cruel merciless barbaric acts with modern melodrama, there are couples still spending lacks of rupees to conceive a child for years. this mother is a monster deserves a harsh punishment which of course not available in India, do this in UAE or US the child will be taken from her to child services or a legal guardian for years who will take care of & will issue a restraining order for her . this women should not be allowed anywhere near children she is armed and dangerous.

    Horrible.However the child cries ,and long,first have to ask why she cries and what problem is.But never ever brands a innocent child who already is suffering.Child never cry without reason.When such mothers do harm a child better take off from such mother and keep in a safe place.She might next do more harm to it by next chance.First treat mother for her problems .May be she is sick .Thats why she is come from husband ?Poor child,she must have got shock that will never forget in life.Hope her burns will heal fast.When it is here ,officials will immediately take the child from such mother when she has other too .Have to show to them that she is ok .

    k.b.r mangala uru.Here nothing to say to whom she is married ,.There are also good or bad in every states and Nations.But the way she was acting might have had problems but she shouldnt take her anger on poor child.Child self was sick crying and brandishing with Iron is horror.We adults self whenget a injury form Iron ,have to suffer ,what about child?I cant imagine.Take away that child ,treat it and dont give back to her .Again she will have to undergo any other injuries from mother .Mother self must be sick .Investigation should be made how far she is fit to lookafter the or have a child.Hope for the child early recovery and wish good health.I am sure she have to suffer this pain for long .I dont defend mother but please treat her soon otherwise she is a big danger to people.

    Sad case... At times innocents are punished for the grudge on someone else... We don't know the full story... But it is possible that she is totally upset with the husband and may be reminded of him whenever seeing the child... At times domestic unpleasantness has a deep impact on the child's mind... Feel sad for the kid... I only hope she will be under better care going forward...

    True, she needs counseling and support. Hope she will come out from her trauma, realize her mistake and take care of her baby nicely. Dear authority give her proper treatment and support and please don't separate the mother and child.

    Taking her anger on her own little daughter by cruel, barbaric means! It is unforgiveable. I have witnessed a mother beating a child mercilessly when she was really mad at her husband, but never to this extent... where did she get a hot iron rod? It was not lying around in the house.
