Udupi, Aug 19: Kannada, Culture and Energy Minister V Sunil Kumar said that those who make statements should have the capacity to bear the protests. “The days of digesting unnecessary statements are over,” he said.
He was reacting to reports that protesters threw eggs at the vehicle of Siddaramaiah.
“The youth community does not keep quiet over insulting statements made against Savarkar and the people in Karnataka will not tolerate them,” the minister said.
“Siddaramaiah should go to Andaman cellular jail once so that he knows the cruelty of British soldiers,” he said.
Speaking about the pictures of Savarkar spread across the state he said that such incidents will increase. “Savarkar is the symbol of nationalism of the country. Processions, programmes, banners and statues will increase if one speaks against Savarkar,” he said.
He said that Ganeshotsava will be celebrated on playgrounds of the government schools in the state. "Our government will not tolerate the objections to it." he said.
Asked about life threats to Siddaramaiah by the RSS he said that he does not have faith in violence. “We have never accepted it, ” he said.
Responding to an allegation made by Yathindra, the son of Siddaramaiah in this connection, he said that Siddaramaiah should complain if there are threats to his life. “The government has provided enough security to him and we will strengthen it,” he said.
