Sullia, Aug 22: A youth from Bengaluru went missing while having bath at Kumaradhara river at Kukke Subramanya near here on Sunday Augsut 21.

Shivu (25), a native of Mandya and working in Bengaluru is the person who went missing as per the information provided by his friend. A team of 21 people had visited Horanadu, Shringeri, Kollur, Murudeshwara, Anegudde, Udupi, Kateel, Dharmasthala and Sauthadka. On Sunday the group came to Kukke Subramanya.

After taking Darshan of the Lord at Kukke, the youths got down into river for having bath when the mishap occurred.

The youth who has gone missing persisted with his friends to have bath in the river. The security guard at the spot warned the youths not to venture beyond the rope mark. All youths had bath and came out of river. Missing Shivu said that he will have one more jump and dived into the water in the danger area. Though he was seen for some time, he went missing later. His friends informed the matter to the staff near the river.

Police, fire service personnel and local expert swimmers searched for the missing youth in the river but could not trace him. The search operation was stopped after dark. Officials said that search will continue on Monday after sunrise.

Shivu is unmarried and is survived by parents and two elder brothers.
