Mangalore: Grandeur, Divinity in Abundance at Ramotsava, Srinivasa Kalyanotsava

Mangalore, Apr 14: The three-day Ramotsava organized under the aegis of Vishwa Hindu Parishat, Bajrang Dal, and Sri Ramotsava Samiti Mangalore at Nehru Maidan here culminated on Wednesday April 13 night with Srinvasa Kalyanotsava, burning of demon, Ravana’s effigy, and an attractive fire crackers show.

Before the programme, an attractive procession accompanied by giant puppets, musical instruments etc, which began from Lord Venkataramana Temple in Car Street here, reached the venue of the programme.

Thousands of people filled their eyes and hearts with the grand Srinivasa Kalyanotsava, which replicated marriage of Lord Srinivasa, held under the aegis of Venkatesh Murty of Srivari Foundation Bangalore. The grand set titled ‘Ayodhya Nagari’, which was conceptualized in the form of Lord Rama’s palace, attracted large number of visitors.

Addressing the religious meeting held on the occasion, Dakshina Kannada MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, said that Ramotsava, being held all over the country to spread awareness about the need to rebuild Lord Rama temple at Srirama Jamabhoomi, has largely succeeded in its aim. He appreciated those who have toiled to make elaborate arrangements for the Utsava in the city. He exhorted the people to take up cudgels to save the country’s culture, and to work to end terrorism and religious conversions.

Karnataka Bank general manager, Jayaram Hande, who participated as a guest, advised people to narrate the contents of Ramayana and Mahabharata to their children since a young age, to create awareness among them about the rich culture and heritage of the country. Hangyo Private Ltd managing director, Pradeep Pai, requested people to work to kindle interest among the children in religious matters, expressing concern about the dwindling concern about religion as witnessed among the new generation.

Sri Yogananda Saraswati Swamiji of Kondevoor Sri Nityananda Yogashrama delivered benedictory address. Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd deputy general manager, Lakshmi Kumaran, zilla panchayat member, Santosh Kumar Rai Boliyar, and advocate, Harish Punja, participated as chief guests.

Honorary president of Sri Ramotsava Samiti, Prof M B Puranik, honorary advisor, Ramesh S, and president, Jitendra S Kottary, were present. Jagadish Shenava welcomed.

At the end, a huge effigy of demon Ravana was put on fire. The programme came to an end with a grand show of fire crackers.
