Bengaluru, Aug 23: Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan inaugurated the renovated Christ the King Church at Malleswaram in Bengaluru on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion after declaring the church open in the presence of Bangalore Archbishop Rev Dr Peter Machado and Archbishop Emeritus Dr Bernard Moras, the minister said the renovation of the Christ the King Church in his Mallesswaram assembly constituency was an historical occasion.
“India and Karnataka are known for religious and communal harmony. The renovated Church and the large gathering of faithful is a celebration of brotherhood and peace,’’ he said especially since Jesus Christ had preached peace and compassion.
Dr Narayan said India is home to several religions and was a model for communal and religious harmony. “We should all become universal citizens with love, compassion and peace in our hearts,’’ he said.
Minister at Sri Venugopala Krishna Temple
The minister also inaugurated the Kalyani at the Sri Venugopala Krishna temple in Malleswaram, which was followed by a chariot procession.
Religious temples help in creating and nurturing positive thoughts and cultural awakening in society, he said.
Yadugiri Yatiraj Mutt seer Sri Narayana Ramanuja Jear, chief temple priest Madhav Narasimha Bhattar, Bharat and Navaneeth Bhattar and Executive Director Aravind Babu were present.
