Mangaluru, Aug 23: Officer of NHAI assured MP Nalin Kumar Kateel of completing asphaltization work of national highway once the rainy season is over. Nalin instructed the officer to complete the work by the end of September. The officials cited heavy rains as the reason for delay in filling the potholed on national highway.
Discussion was held in the Disha meeting with regards to the merger of Surathkal toll gate. NHAI officer Lingegowda informed that within a month the Surathkal toll gate will be merged as per the decision taken in the meeting of Dakshina Kannada district coordination and in-charge committee presided over by Nalin.
The NHAI officer informed Nalin that they have had discussion with union minister Nitin Gadkari and he has given the go ahead to take action for merger. Within a month the Surathkal toll gate will be merged with other toll gate.
“Under Namma Clinic scheme, 14 clinics are sanctioned including seven under MCC limits. These clinics have to be opened in slum areas. As there are no slums in MCC limits, these will come up in areas where building construction labourers reside. One doctor, nurse and lab technician will be there in these clinic,” said district medical officer Dr Kishore Kumar.
Flood surveying is done and a proposal for Rs 310 crore for compensation is sent to the state government for Dakshina Kannada district.
Additional deputy commissioner Krishnamurthy said that nine people have died due to rain, 500 houses are completely destroyed while 119 houses are partially damaged. A temporary relief of Rs 20 crore for 283 schools is already released.
For the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi scheme for street vendors in the first phase 10,017 people applied for loan. Out of this, loan is given to 6453 people. For the second stage loan of Rs 20,000, 1,654 beneficiaries are identified. For the third phase loan of Rs 50,000, three have already applied as per the information provided by ZP CEO Dr Kumar.
Mangaluru City Corporation commissioner Akshy Sridhar said that the central market renovation work will begin once the rain stops.
Most of the work related to Adarsha Grama at a cost of Rs 60 crore under DK MP is completed. Nalin said that Dakshina Kannada is the district which has spent highest amount on Adarsha village.
Officials gave information with regards to Balpa village and said that auditorium, pond, 11 houses and school is built at a cost of Rs two crore. Rs 10 crore is spent from CSR funds.
Nalin said that design of Mahakali Padpu overbridge should be discussed thoroughly. Under no circumstances it should meet the fate of Padil or Pumpwell flyover, he said.
