Dubai, Apr 14 : R Ashok, Karnataka state home minister and transport minister was in Dubai to participate in the 59th UITP (International Association of Public Transport) Congress and Mobility & City Transport Exhibition, which was inaugurated by Vice-president and Prime Minister of UAE and ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Wednesday April 13. During the exhibition, Karnataka was awarded for having one of the best transport facilities in India.

On Wedensday evening, Zafarullah Khan, a well known kannadiga and entrepreneur in the UAE hosted a dinner meet to honour minister R Ashok and other delegates at the Atlantis Hotel, Palm Jumairah, Dubai. The dinner meet was attended by the member of various Karnataka association and other community leaders.

Speaking on the occasion, minister R Ashok said, "I am proud to share the achievement of Karnataka government with you kannadigas here. The transport department in Karnataka has achieved tremendous growth and success after I have taken over the responsibility as minister. High-tech public transport has been introduced in state, and especially in Bangalore. The transport facility in Bangalore is indeed world class. Recognizing our achievements even central government of India has awarded 30 award to us in last three years" he said while thanking for honouring him.

"Now the public transport facilities around state will go top class step by step. We have plan to develop high class transport facilities in every village. We are numero uno in India as far as transport facilities are concerned," he said.

Speaking to Daijiworld on the sidelines of the programme, R Ashok said that State government will complete its full five year term without any problem under the strong leadership of Chief Minister B S Yedyurappa. He ruled out any dissent within the party. "The dissent within BJP you are talking about is just created by media. The electronic media in India just love to create a hype on such matter. In the past three years there had been many such gossips, but every time Yeddyurappa came out stongly and successfully," he stressed.

On query about his assurance on withdrawal of cases against Christians who were booked during church attacks, he said "The delegation of Bishops as well as IFKCA president Ronald Colaco have requested me to take action about the issue. I have assured them that request will be considered. Since this involves lot of legal hurdle, it may take sometime. Exact deadline for the same cannot be given," he said.

On recent conversion controversies in Mangalore. and attacks on minority-run orphanages, he said he was not aware of the proper report due to his travel abroad. I will review the issue discussing the matter with police commissioner of Mangalore Seemanth Kumar Singh once I am back in India, he said.

The delegation included Shankarlinge Gowda, principal secretary of transport ministry of Karnataka state, Peenya MLA Lingaraju, and the other officials.

Earlier Zafarullaha Khan and Sarvothama Shetty welcomed the minister and his delegation for participating in the dinner meet as well as for meeting fellow kannadigas.

Ganesh Rai compered the programme.

Pot bellied real estate mogul, aka BJP minister Ashok will be next CM of Karnataka.
After temporarily repairing all the world class pot holes for the n’th time, instead of re-asphalting-concreating the key roads like Bkr-Mlr Highway, Govt has decided to name the death trap after him.
Yeddi has thanked all the corrupt swami's including most controversial Shivakumara Swami of Siddaganga Math and Vishvesha Tirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Math, who has finally (too late) approved of Yeddi’s safe exite/retirement on the recommendation of highly corrupt Gadkari.

Dear Mr. Amardeep Khosla, Malliggekatte/Sankarapura, I quote from the Holy Bible Esther Chapter 1:1. Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus, (this is Ahasuerus which reigned, from India even unto Ethiopia, over an hundred and seven and twenty provinces). Unquote.

India was ruled by Ahasuerus up to Ethiopia which was included Pakistan, Afghanistan, whole of Middle East & North African countries up to Ethiopia. Now India is only how much?
Even Gandhiji had a vision of greater India but under estimated rebellion within.
Where is Sanskrit language now, preserving from perishing no takers/learners.

The so called British in your comment colonized many countries and wherever they landed the structures they built are landmarks. See how Hong Kong is now they have handed over to China.
It is good to preserve Kashmir and infiltration from Nepal, Tibet, Pakistan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka rather than digging History.

Let Ashok visit Mangalore, see the conditions of the road, these men refer the transport in Bangalore, while rest of the state doesnt have a good road, even when converting the roads into concrete roads, the road becomes worst tha before, because the sides of roads are left unprepared , posing danger for th vehicles, posing danger to pedestrians as there is no way for people to walk, do they need people tp ortest for each & everything??Why dont they give the road construction as package to finish the streach completely?? They just want to invest the amount sanctioned on the road, fill their pocket, then get the other amoutn sanctioned again get their part, but finishing of the road does take time ,it delays their commission, its apparent & obvious from the way its progressing at the moment.

The state home minister and transport minister either had a double-scotch or was obviously mesmerized by Dubai’s beautiful roads and got carried away. Especially with the super-rich expatriate vultures, literally lining-up to grab premium real-estate, contracts and niche industry licenses in Bangalore.

Either Ashok travels only in choppers provided by the Bellary trio or he is the Gaddafi of Bangalore. The later could be partly true considering his huge investments in real estate, much before he became a MLA. Incidentally, the dark man in the snaps is none other than Lingaraju, the 'noted MLA' of Dasarahalli and Peenya, considered the benami for all of Ashok’s assets.

Everyone is aware of the pathetic condition and pot-holes in Bangalore not to mention the absolutely shocking condition of NH17 from Bangalore to Mangalore.

Ashok, What do you mean by 'world Class Transport in Karnataka' when you speak? Yes, by Indian standards you are right. But have you seen and experienced the transport system in some of the Western European countries or in Hong Kong & Singapore? If ours belong to 'World Class' then, what class they belong to?! You travel by some of the city buses in Mangalore at peak time and then you will know what are you talking about. We have only bone breaking travel and transport facilities in Karnataka and not world class. Can also take interest in introducing at least one Volvo bus from Mangalore to Kalyan-Dombivli where there are hundreds of people from Mangalore and struggling to get tickets during the summer season. Just one or two bus operators there keep looting the people every summer season. It would be a great help if can introduce a Volvo bus to Kalyan- Dombivli.

If the award is for the Govt transportation then must be a World class for having the highest number of bed bugs in the Buses and World class if compared to States like Bihar.

Amarpreet Khosla, please don't compare Narendra Modi to yeddi. Modi will be Prime Minister of India one day but I don't think Yeddi will be the keep his post in next election.

It is disappointing to see someone who is holding a ministerial position in India presenting himself in his evening park dress. Looks like he has landed in Dubai by mistake. I am basically from Kodialbail and on my recent to town I was shocked to see the pathetic condition of our Mangalore road signals and how they work, as a result I fail to understand what this dreamer is BS-ing about. He says “V R numero uno in India..” wake up man. It must be a print mistake.

Lancelot N. Tauro, Manglore - Doha Qatar it's offcourse the nature of congress party to take credit of good works done by others even though the party is not involved. I agree SM Krishna also had a share in development in Bangalore, but Bangalore saw major development especially with regards to roads only during BJP govt.

I agree with you Manish Kumar. Nagesh Nayak is the right person to reply. Some people cannot digest the good development works done by our present BJP state govt.

Francis, Moodbidri/Dubai visit to bangalore once when you come to india next time. You can see lot of developments in bangalore especially with regards to roads under BJP govt. It's not like simply sitting in abroad and giving comments about our country and state.

Its indeed a good news to see karnataka being awarded for one of the best transport facilities in India. but the highway authorities i feel have completed neglected NH17 now called NH66 highway, none of the work seems to be complete. no signboards at junctions, driving on fly over at kottara is nothing but participating in a high jump event and the abscence of street lamps from kottara-baikampady is a nightmare for pedestrians & 2 wheelers.

No doubt that Bangalore has a World Class Road Transport and Minister R. Ashok has really done a great job in this field. But Bangalore alone is not Karnataka. There are lots of other cities/districts in Karnataka which are lacking these transport facilities. Our Minister should think and act on these too.
