A swimming squad from Gundya was on a visit on Monday and had extended their support in the search operations with the Subrahmanya police and Home Guards.
Due to incessant rains in Subrahmanya, the river water had turned brown and search operations were affected due to rise in water levels in the river. A team of swimmers numbering about 15 of them and fire fighting personnel along with members of Grama Panchayat, Subrahmanya police, revenue department officials, home guards and local representatives were engaged in a 12-hour continuous search operation from 7 am to 7 pm on Monday and Tuesday but to no avail. The search operation had to be stopped as it turned dark and the operation is likely to continue later, according to officials.
