Bengaluru, Aug 25: The tenure of state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel is over. However, it is not known, whether he will be asked to continue till assembly elections next year or not.
Nalin assumed the position of state BJP president on August 20, 2019. So his tenure got over on August 20, 2022. But there is no rule that the president needs to be changed immediately after completion of three years. Moreover, when there are assembly or any other elections in the state generally, the same person is asked to continue.
In the internal survey conducted by the national BJP, any striking opinion about the organization of the party in Karnataka or the image of the government was expressed. For the same reason, earlier, former chief minister B S Yediyurappa was given the membership of central parliamentary committee of the party, which has the power to take highest level of decisions in the party. But it needs to be seen whether the top brasses are happy with this nomination.
Sources in the party say that president will be changed keeping in mind the caste equation. The names of BJP national chief secretary C T Ravi, union minister Shobha Karandlaje, minister Sunil Kumar and MLA Aravinda Limbavali are making rounds in the party. But official information is still not given.
If the state president is changed at this juncture, all the office bearers also need to be replaced. It is to be seen whether the top brasses of the party opt for the change or no.
