Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 25:Dakshina Kannada on Thursday, August 25, reported 18 new coronavirus cases while seven cases were registered in Udupi.

The total number of positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,36,579 out of which 71 are currently active. As many as 14 patients were discharged on August 25.

Zero deaths were reported on August 25. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,859.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authorities.

Positivity rate for the day stood at 1.92% percent.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,05,880 as fine in 96,212 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

Seven coronavirus cases were reported on August 25. The total active Covid cases are 33.

A total of 10,90,429 people have received the first dose of vaccination and 10,84,144 have received both doses and 2,36,406 people have received booster doses.

Udupi reported five cases, while Kundapur added two and Karkala registered zero cases.
