Shankar Duo Create Magical Moments at Indo-China Border

Udupi, Apr 15: It was a truly magical experience for the country's defence personnel at the border when Professor Shankar and Shankar Junior, renowned magicians of ‘Gili Gili Magic’ troupe of Udupi performed their 90-minute show at various military camps in the state of Sikkim, recently.
They entertained nearly 1,500 defence personnel at Defence Auditorium Gangtok, Pedong Community Hall, 5 Mile Gangtok, Rinchenpong, Chungbung, and Thegu. Shankar Junior presented his sleight-of-hand magic at the famous snow-covered tourist spot Chhangu Lake.
The most appreciated performance was at Thegu, at a height of 13,200 feet above sea level, held on a special stage between the snow covered peaks near the Indo–China border. Officials including Colonel Rajbir, Major Lakshminarayan, Colonel Rathore and Brig Prabhat Bhatt felicitated the duo and applauded their unique performance. They said that this was the first time an artiste had performed a show of this scale at these heights for the soldiers.
The Shankars also presented a seminar on magic at the prestigious Sikkim Manipal University for its staff and students. Dr Brigadier S S Pabla commended Shankar on his presentation and unique performance that was liked by all.
The Shankars, who left Udupi on March 29, returned on Friday April 15 after a successful tour.
