Kundapur, Aug 26: Two stones with inscriptions of pygmy prints were found at Aralikatte, Neralakatte near the residence of Rama Mogaveera, Jatkettu close to Laxmi Venkataramana temple here. Such stones were used to mark borders by Shaivas, Vaishnavas and the Jains during the ancient period.
The stones have the message, "May these remain till the end of Sun and Moon" written on them.
The stone may throw light on the history of Laxmi Venkataramana temple situated nearby. Similar stone was found in the past near Veeranjaneya temple next to Laxminarayana temple, Kandavara.
The Akhil Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Yojana wing of RSS, Karnataka Udupi district convener Pradeep Kumar Basrur and Santhosh Neralakatte have found the stones. Karkunje Gram Panchayat, vice- president Santhosh Poojary, Sukumar Neralakatte, Jayarama Neralakatte and Giri Poojary Neralakatte helped in the finding.
