Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 26: Dakshina Kannada on Friday, August 26, reported 19 new coronavirus cases while 15 cases were registered in Udupi.

The total number of positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,36,598 out of which 76 are currently active. As many as 14 patients were discharged on August 26.

No deaths were reported on August 26. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,859.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authorities.

Positivity rate for the day stood at 2.24% percent.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,05,880 as fine in 96,212 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

15 coronavirus cases were reported on August 26. The total active Covid cases are 38.

A total of 10,90,435 people have received the first dose of vaccination and 10,84,145 have received both doses and 2,37,952 people have received booster doses.

Udupi taluk reported 12 cases, while Kundapur added 1 and Karkala registered 2 cases.
