Mangaluru, Aug 27: Preparations for PM Modi’s visit to city on September 2 are in full swing.
The work of erecting pandal for two lac people to sit is going on at brisk pace at the Goldfinch City near Kulur. Dais which is 80 feet wide, 60 feet long and 20 feet in height is also installed for PM Modi and other dignitaries. Temporary drainage is being built around the open space to prevent water flowing into the ground in case of rain. Temporary helipad is also being built and parking lots are being marked.
Plans are being made for the inauguration of various projects at NMPT. According to one source, Modi will inaugurate various projects at NMPT and then arrive at Gold Finch city grounds for public function. However, another source says that he will do virtual inauguration of the projects from Goldfinch City itself.
The preparations were overseen by MP Nalin Kateel, minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLAs Bharath Shetty and Vedavyas Kamath. Deputy commissioner Dr Rajendra K V, Mangaluru City Corporation commissioner Akshay Sridhar and police personnel were present.
Roads are also repaired in case PM Modi wants to go by road and not helicopter to reach Goldfinch City from Bajpe airport. Pot holes from Bajpe airport to Kulur are being filled hurriedly.
Arrangements are also being made for stay of PM Modi, in case there are last minute changes in his itinerary. As per protocol two facilities are being checked for his stay. One at Circuit House in the city and second is the NMPT guest house.
