Udupi, Aug 28: A case has been filed in Malpe police station on 15 to 20 people accusing them of obstructing the work of on duty government officers and personnel while demolishing and transporting unauthorised shed at Kinnimulky in the city.
The complaint is lodged by the assistant executive engineer of city municipality Yashwant N Prabhu. In his complaint, Prabhu says, “I have been working as an executive with the city municipality for the past eight months. On the orders of the municipality commissioner, I went to Kinnimulky to demolish the unauthorised shed that was built at Kinnimulky on government land, along with a JCB machine and other personnel.
“When we were about to demolish the shed, the auto rickshaw drivers and other members of the public obstructed our work. We got the same demolished with the help of the police. As we were transporting the demolished shed parts in a vehicle, around 15 to 20 people rounded up our vehicle, abused and threatened us with life.”
Malpe police are investigating further.
