Beltangady, Aug 28: Minister for housing and fundamental infrastructure development V Somanna said that he would discuss with the chief minister and other departments to identify 100 acres of land to construct a mini airport for the convenience of pilgrims visiting Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala as per a demand placed by Dr D Veerendra Heggade and MLA Harish Poonja.
Somanna spoke after distributing the work orders for 1500 beneficiaries of Basava Vasathi and Ambedkar Vasanthi schemes.
With thoughts of the future, ATR and airport, in which 10 to 12 seater flights can land, along with four helipads is planned for Dharmasthala. The DPR will be made soon and sent to cabinet for approval.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Poonja said, “By sanctioning 1500 houses, minister Somanna has realized the dreams of good house and good family for every beneficiary. Another 5000 houses are required for the taluk and I have appealed for the same with the minister.”
Minister Somanna said that a grant of Rs 10 crore more would be given to develop the fundamental infrastructure of the taluk. He also gave orders for 3160 more houses. In addition, the minister also asked the officials concerned to identify the beneficiaries in all 48 panchayats and furnish a report.
