Udupi, Aug 29: District police is continuing its operation against drug abuse. Cases are registered in various police stations of the district.
Police team led by Kundapur rural SI Pavan Kumar, caught Raghavendra Acharya (30) on the suspicion of consuming ganja. It was confirmed that Acharya was consuming ganja during medical examination. A case is registered in Kundapur rural police station.
A case as per NDPS act is registered against Prajwal Acharya, resident of Hejamady Gundi near Hejamady toll gate for consuming some narcotic drug.
During rounds on Shiroor sea beach, Byndoor inspector Santhosh Kaikini took Sharath Poojary (30) into custody. On medical examination it was proved that the accused had consumed ganja. In another case SI Niranjan Gowda B S of Byndoor police station arrested Vidyadhar (19) at Someshwara beach for consumption of ganja. Two separate cases are registered in Byndoor police station.
In Karkala, SI Damodar K B of city police station apprehended a youth who was consuming ganja at Paraneeru grounds of Banglegudde of Kasaba village on August 26. A case under NDPS act is registered against him.
Acting on definite tip-off by locals, Gangolli SI Vinaya Korlahalli raided beach by the side of tourist bungalow near Trasi and arrested Mohammed Rihad Sada, Mohammed Danish and Mohammed Arbaaz who were consuming ganja. A case is registered against all three offenders.
