Mangalore: CM Lays Foundation Stone for Lady Goschen Hospital New Building

Mangalore, Apr 16: The 162-year-old government Lady Goschen Hospital will finally come up with full-fledged 2+5 storeyed building soon in the city. The foundation stone laying ceremony for the proposed new building for which Andhra Pradesh entrepreneur K Raghava Naidu has donated Rs 18 crores was carried out by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa here on Saturday April 16.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the project, Yeddyurappa said that Raghava’s gesture is a rare one and appreciable. It is commendable that he has tried to forget his agony by being of help to others who are in dire need. He added that though there are plenty of donors in the state to achieve the cause, there is lack of motivation to act upon the same objective, he noted.
Within short period, the new hospital will emerge in city from present beds 200 to 500 beds with all advanced facilities like good equipments, blood banks, delivery room, proper drainage, electricity supply, waiting rooms for patients' guard, special wards and specious pharmacy among others.
Speaking on the occasion N Yogish Bhat, deputy speaker said the Regional Advanced Paediatric Care Centre (RAPCC) at the District Wenlock Hospital which has been operational since several months now has made poorest of poor child patients to avail good treatment free of cost wherein otherwise the cost would have been Rs 3 lac in any private hospital for the same treatment. He also said for the proposed super specialty hospital at Wenlock Hospital is a project of Rs 150 crore and added search for genuine donor for the cause is still on.
