Udupi, Aug 29: The Karnataka State government is opening Namma Clinic with the intention of providing quick and efficient health services for the public living in city areas. In the district of Udupi, six such clinics will start operating soon.
Namma Clinic has a referral service as well to hospitals that give advanced treatment. This will decentralise the primary health care centre work and also improve monitoring of contagious diseases.
Namma Clinic will be manned by a doctor, a nurse and a lab technician besides one D class worker. Free health check-up and necessary medicines will be given. Fourteen different types of tests including blood and urine will be available in the laboratory. The clinics will work from 9 am to 4.30 pm. E-Sanjivini and tele counselling facility is also available.
Three clinics in Udupi city municipality limits, one at Karkala town municipality limits and two under the Kundapur municipality limits have been approved. Process of recruiting personnel is going on.
Dr Nagabhushan Udupa, district health and family welfare officer says, “Namma clinic will help city dwellers to get quick medical services and manage their health. Interviews have been already held for recruiting staff at the clinics that come under the Udupi city limits. The clinics will start functioning soon.”
