Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 29: Dakshina Kannada on Monday, August 29, reported 15 new coronavirus cases while 11 cases were registered in Udupi.

The total number of positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,36,656 out of which 102 are currently active. As many as 13 patients were discharged on August 29.

Zero deaths were reported on August 29. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,859.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authorities.

Positivity rate for the day stood at 2.97% percent.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,05,880 as fine in 96,212 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

Eleven coronavirus cases were reported on August 29. The total active Covid cases are 60.

A total of 10,90,443 people have received the first dose of vaccination and 10,84,157 have received both doses and 5,41,665 people have received booster doses.

Udupi reported nine cases and two cases were from Kundapur. The positivity rate is 7.3 percent.

Two patients are admitted in designated Covid hospital while 9 are in home isolation. All the reported 11 cases are symptomatic.
