Saudi Arabia : MASA Dazzles on Annual Sports Day, Celebrates India’s World Cup Win

Dammam, Apr 17: MASA (Mangalorean Association of Saudi Arabia)  Sports Day 2011 held, recently was a confluence of great sporting talent and also a victory celebration of the team India’s magnificent victory in ICC World Cup 2011.
 
The event kick started with well-disciplined assembly of the houses viz. Blue, Green, Red and Yellow, followed by cake cutting for the victory celebration of Team India’s Championship. A replica of ICC World Cup was made, which was admired by all the members and it added a special effect for the celebration. Thanks to Prakash Sanil for his creativity and time in preparing the World Cup replica in a short notice.

The briefing was made by president Ravi Karkera accompanied by Advisory Committee head Madhav Amin, vice-president Santhosh Shetty, general secretary Viraj Shetty and joint secretary Naveen Bhandary.










 
The games were arranged for all the age groups from kids to elders including age group 0 to 6 and above 50. Apart from the usual games there were two new games added for the special attraction; Chair race and Mudi Ari which were fully enjoyed by the participants and the other members watching it.

Ladies cricket was also the special attraction of the evening, while the ladies were inspired by the victory of Team India, boundaries and huge sixes were hit with style.
 
Though it was hot and humid; children, ladies and also the elders were all charged up for the event. Their huge support throughout the day made the event a grand success.
 
Every one appreciated and congratulated the winners, runners-up and also the participants with huge round of applause and lots of praises, singing and hauling.
 
The champions of the day were Roshan Hussain from Green House in boys and among the girls the championship was shared between Alita Almeida and Pooja Suvarna (both from Yellow House).

The House championship was won by Yellow House with 49 points, while the Red House with 43 points secured the first runner-up, followed by Green House with 39 points and Blue House with 23 Points, respectively.
 
Gold, Silver and Bronze medals were distributed to the winners for individual and group games.

Morning breakfast was served to keep members charged and mouthwatering lunch was served on time followed by tasty evening snacks with tea/coffee made available throughout the day. And an ice-cream stall was also arranged by MASA to beat the heat.

It was an enjoyable day for the MASA members and family. The event concluded with the vote of thanks by president Ravi Karkera and vice-president Santhosh Shetty and also reading out of the upcoming events for the year. In the list the first to come will be proposed MASA Cricket tournament on April 29, 2011.

    Really MASA conducted pleasure enjoyment sports day with entertainment to all Mangaloreans. Roopakka played very well in the MASA even like Sachin.

    it would have been much better if legs have been exchanged with other team members and not within couples..event would have sparked interesting..any how well-done MASA..Jai Ho..
