Udupi: Udyavar parishioners visit Ganeshotsava as communal harmony gesture

Udupi, Aug 31: On the occasion of Ganeshotsava, the parishioners of St Francis Xavier Church, Udyavar along with parish priest and Diocese of Udupi chancellor Fr Stany B Lobo, visited the Ganeshotsava celebrations organized by the Udyavar Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samiti and Friends Garden Aroor Thotha, Sampigenagar.

Udyavar village, known for its communal harmony, witnessed another act of communal harmony during this year Ganeshotsava. Fr.l Stany B Lobo, parish priest, Fr Leo Praveen D'Souza, assistant parish priest, along with other parishioners visited the Ganeshotsava celebrations and exchanged festival greetings with the Hindu bretheren and received felicitation done from the Ganeshotsava Samithi.

Melwyn Noronha, vice president, parish pastoral commitee; Michael D'Souza, secretary, Gerald Periera, convener, 20 commission; Wilfred D'Souza, president, Souharda Samithi: Ronald D'Souza, Royce Fernandes, John Gomes, Anil D'Souza, Sunil D'Souza, Steevan Colaco and others were present on the occasion.

Dinesh Jatthanna, Pradeep Suvarna, Yogish Kotian, Harish Kumar Soundarya, Ganesh Kumar, Riyaz Palli, Girish Kumar, Chethan Kumar Pithrody, Prasad, Sudheer and others were also part of the occasion.

    Readers, it is appropriate to realise that humans and all living creatures, are a creation of one " Supreme Power " All faiths irrespective of their ideology, has humanity as the central character... Therefore it is imperative that we collectively partake of each other's celebrations, only then will sanity prevail !!!

    I love these Christians, especially from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasaragod area. They always think out of the box and render something to the society giving an 'awe' to everyone. Here they gave a sense of harmonious living in the current era of butchering each others on the basis of religion! My applauds and respect... and of course love.

    Delightful sight with a noble message... Most human fights are meaningless... We can only coexist and nothing else... I remember the days in 70s and 80s in Ajjarkad where all communities lived in harmony without botheration about each other's religion... I still remember the wood fired mutton biriyani of Manna Saheb's family in open ground marriage ceremony... Our cricket team of Nayar kere was the symbol of communal harmony... I wonder why our minds have become so corrupt nowadays???...

    The common people are really not concerned with religious differences.That has been the tradition too.Had our ancestors been communal so many different religions would not have prospered here for centuries.We should allow people to practice their own beliefs without trying to propagate one's beliefs on others.The Christian community has always been secular and accommodative of the others.This is particularly so with the mainstream Christian denominations.But when certain errand sections of the community began to convert others the divide began to be seen.The gesture of the Catholic community will go a long way in promoting brother hood and mutual respect

    Olden days if any festivals for any religion all faith people was happy to celebrate and share food. But now due to hatred towards each other people are not mingling with each other. Visiting and participating in anyones festivals not a crime as long as you keep your faith in yourself. God will bless us if we love each other and live in peace
