Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 31: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, August 31, reported 19 new coronavirus cases while 11 cases were registered in Udupi.

The total number of positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,36,688 out of which 88 are currently active. As many as 19 patients were discharged on August 31.

No deaths were reported on August 31. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,859.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authorities.

Positivity rate for the day stood at 2.29 percent.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,05,880 as fine in 96,212 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

Eleven coronavirus cases were reported on August 31. The total active Covid cases are 51. One death was reported on August 31.

A total of 10,90,448 people have received the first dose of vaccination and 10,84,161 have received both doses and 2,44,106 people have received booster doses.

Udupi taluk reported six cases and Kundapura added 5. The positivity rate is 2.3 percent.

Two patients are admitted in designated Covid hospital while 9 are in home isolation. Nine cases are symptomatic and two are asymptomatic.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 60,94,570 as fine in 55,123 incidents of mask violation.
