Udupi, Sep 2: Police arrested three people in connection with the attempt to kidnap and life threat in order to extract money from two students of Manipal. One is absconding.
Mohammed Razin, Zhakriya and Khalid are the arrested accused. Rehman is absconding.

Britil Biju is studying in nursing college at Manipal and does catering work during free time. On August 30 evening, he had been to Manipal Inn hotel for catering work and was going back to his hostel around 12.30 am along with his friend Sinan. Both waved at a car at Kalsanka Junction in order to ask for drop to Manipal. The car bearing registration number KA 01 MA 5287 stopped. However, as Biju and Sinan bad odour in the car, they refused to board.
One of the inmates among the four in the car got down and questioned Biju and Sinan why they stopped the car and forced them to sit in the car by wielding a knife at them and forced them into the car.
Then the gang of four drove the car to Manipal and snatched the mobile phones of Sinan and Biju and assaulted them. Later, the accused took the car to Doddannagudde and hit the duo with a stick on their head, leg and back and asked them to bring Rs two lac. They also threatened them with life, if they do not bring the money.
Biju managed to escape from the accused. The gang took his friend Sinan to Shirva via Padubidri. Meanwhile, Biju had informed town police station about the matter. The police immediately alerted all the police stations in the district. Shirva police managed to apprehend the three accused near Milk dairy of Shirva. They are produced in court.
The four accused had left Kanchinadka and had consumed alcohol in a bar at Kaup. From there they were going to Manipal.
The arrested accused carry several cases in various police stations of the district. Mohammed Razin is the first accused in Pitti Nagesh murder case. It is said that the accused are active in assaulting, creating chaos and threatening for money.
