Bangalore: Kannada Glam Doll Ramya Joins Congress

Bangalore: Kannada Glam Doll Ramya Joins Congress

Bangalore, Apr 19 (Agencies):  Glam doll Ramya, who has been seeking to take the plunge into politics for a while now, joined the Youth Congress yesterday.

The actress tweeted last evening, "Became a member of Youth Congress today. Do you want to as well?"

Insiders in the party said it was a calculated move that she joined the Youth Congress, prior to Rahul Gandhi's visit to Bangalore. The youth icon is scheduled visit the city on April 21, and is expected to address members of the party.

Youthful vigour

Recently, she kicked up controversy by announcing that she would be retiring from acting in Kannada films owing to harassment by a film producer. Later, she changed her mind after the crisis was resolved.

"Right now I don't have any intention to enter active politics. I have joined the Youth Congress because it is the party of youth," she told media.

Many have criticised her move on twitter, saying she had joined a corrupt party. Quoting Mahatma Gandhi, "Be the change you want to see," she tweeted, "If one thinks there is corruption, he has to be the part of the system to change it."

Ramya's parents ” Narayan and Ranjitha ”  are close to Foreign Minister S M Krishna.

The actress was tipped to be a Congress candidate in the last parliamentary polls from Krishna's home district Mandya, but actor-turned politician Ambarish entered the fray only to face defeat at the hands of JD(S) candidate Chaluvaraya Swamy.

    Dear brother jatin, mlore.

Again you are not reading the comments properly. Some things you assume and write. I have written…..if you are a BJP supporter…..I have not concluded you as BJP supporter. My sincere advice to you is read the things carefully before reacting.

After reading your comments about Rahul Gandhi, should I conclude that all people supporting Rahul Gandhi are mindless people and you or few Rahul bashers are intelligent and nationalistic people?

Jatin if people are supporting Rahul, they must have found some good qualities which you might have missed to observe. If you ask my opinion about him I find him charming, sincere and down to earth individual and he has a will to bring change. Like many others I have hope in him but only time will tell if he can deliver what he says.

Having said that I feel that his comments on Mr. Achutanadan was uncalled for and he should have been more careful in ion of his words.

@Mr.Kunder- What makes you think ,iam a BJP supporter? If I don’t like Congress because they just look for reasons to pamper minorities. Now you tell me what quality does Rahul Gandhi to make him a hero. He never spoke about 2G,Adarsh or CWG scams!!! He was so dumb, that he called Kerala CM an old man and forgot his own partner in crime, Tamil Nadu CM Karunanidhi who was old and couldn’t even walk or talk properly. You guys call him Young, age of 43 doesnot qualify to be called Young . He did not even raise his head and was in hiding when Anna Hazare went on fast . Forget all these, when he came to Mangalore few years back, media was not allowed to inside the hall where people were told to interact, because he comes with ready answers written by somebody else. A Good leader is one who uses his Own brains and not others!! Iam always neutral but allergic to congress because of their double standards!!

Honestly BJP does not have any good young leaders.
    Advani is a Pakistani.
Gadkari and Sushma have swallowed money from Karnataka in illegal mining
Yedurappa is a confirmed land grabber for which he has publically apologized.
Reddy is happily sitting with Rs.150 billion illegal mining money waiting for his opportunity.
Basanthi Tangewali has disappeared after she won from Karnataka.
I guess only Nagesh Nayak can turn BJP around.

    Dear Mr. jay, kundapur

BJP says that they are here to protect Indian culture but most of the BJP supporters here do not follow the same. Some believe that they can make a point by shouting louder or abusing but I feel that we can make a point otherwise also. Indian culture I know, does not allow me to make derogatory remarks on the fellow commentators even if their opinion is contradictory to mine.

You have a wrong impression that the people who are against BJP principals are Congress supporters. Having said that I should admit that it is sad on Indian democracy that we do not have another strong party (which believes in Indian Constitution) to take on Congress in the present circumstances. You may get sadistic pleasure by saying that more than 50% of boneless hindus against BJP but the fact is majority of Hindus consider BJP as fooling Hindus for vote bank and consider this party as danger to Indian Unity.

Now as far the leadership issue, leaders are made by the people and they must have found some qualities with Sonia or Rahul which may be missing with other leaders.

    Dear Mr. jatin, mlore

Did you read my comments carefully? Have I mentioned anything about the actress joining Youth Congress or any impact she can make to the party she is joining. I do not care who joins which party or their intention of joining political party. I had only made general comments why the youth is getting attracted to a particular political party. I have to politely tell you that you should be little careful while making sweeping comments otherwise it may expose your immaturity. Jatin you really need a break.

I am not a follower of any party but a follower of Indian Culture and its constitution. I will oppose all those parties which do not believe in the Indian Constitution. If you are a BJP supporter, my sincere advice to you is to introspect why BJP is not able to come to Power in Delhi and make the necessary changes in the policies so that it can come back to power. Just going on denial mode will not help the BJP to grab power.

Can you tell me what difference it makes to the society by you working in Mangalore or me working here in Kuwait? It is the positive contribution of particular individual to the society which can make the difference.

People who are illiterate and jobless only will join. I would have agreed to certain extenct if she was some major crowd puller like Rajnikant, Infact she got banned by her bread earning film industry. The reason was her EGO which everybody knows.

If she is Ms.EGO ,you tell me to what extenct can she gel with the Aam Aadmi ??? I never support any party, but hate blind followers like you sitting some corner of the world which faces one the highest racial discrimination for Indians and talk about equality in India. Give me a break!!!

    Dear Mr.Nagesh Nayak,

I do not go by fake news items. I may not be having full knowledge but have enough knowledge to keep track on the political happenings of the country and hence able to comment sensibly.

There is misconception with some BJP supporters and I feel pity that BJP supporters are not ready to accept the reality.

BJP supporters think that all Hindus support them which is not the case. Even if 50% of the Hindus support BJP they can win majority. Hindus are 80% of the population but even in BJP ruled sates like Karnataka, BJP do not get more than 33% of the total votes polled. Hence just harping as protectors of Hindus, BJP can not get the votes.

Now coming to the leadership, BJP itself is to blame because they did not develop second rung of mass leaders. I have many friends both in professional field or otherwise but most of them do not appreciate the principals of BJP which is divisive and dangerous to the unity of the country.

I do not say Congress is 100% perfect party. It also has done lot of mistakes and people have taught the lessons by throwing it out of power on many occasions. But in today’s scenario people do not see any alternative or any leader alternate to Congress top leaders.

BJP still can come back to the power if it comes out of its communal agenda and develops mass leaders who can unite the whole country irrespective of religion, caste and creed.

I wonder why they can not bring down the current corrupt congress government, with such big fall outs right under our nose - CWG, 2G etc. With people accepting corruption as a day to day norm, Politics in India has gone down such a low level, I am not surprised if our country gets divided into at least 4 parts in the next 10 years. Why can't we have one honest, well intended leader in our country at least once in 20 years. I fear for my younger generation. Can we leave behind a sustainable future.

The corruption is everywhere and certainly congress is taking the larger beating for it. The reason is they did not do much to curb rather they encouraged it to grow. Sensible argument. However, today it is the same congress party which is fighting the corruption atleast at top. I appreciate that and want to be part of that process.

The cleanup need be to transparent and focussed. I am sure results may not be immediate. People who are in favor of corruption are going to make sure every such act is dis-credited. That is logical, but as a patriot it is necessary to fight back and choose the best option available. The options available in clean politics is either LEFT or Congress. Left (CPM etc) since it lives in past, the sensible option I feel is congress. Ramya, here joins one more youth activist.

It is sad to see a Principal Opposition party could not develop leaders of the stature to take on Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. BJP people may argue that they have Modi with them but his charisma is limited to Gujarat only and his acceptability at national level is very limited.

For attracting people good leadership is required and naturally young people find Congress a better party than sinking BJP.

BJP have to give up communal agenda and look for a more secular face to be in the run for power.
