Kasargod, Sep 5: A newly married woman ended her life by consuming rat poison. She died in a private hospital at Deralakatte in the city.
The deceased is identified as Rashmi Achar (24), a resident of Kotraguthu of Amblamogaru village. She had married Sandeep Achar, a native of Ganjimath living in Mumbai and working in Dubai, 15 days ago.
After completing her graduation, Rashmi was working in a pharmacy company in the city for the past four years. She got engaged to Sandeep, who is an engineer in Dubai, six months ago. In the information that was conveyed to the police by Sandeep, Rashmi was not speaking much to him over the phone, though he used to call her once in four days.
After the marriage programme that was held on August 21, it is said that Rashmi said that she likes to be in Mangaluru itself and will not go to Mumbai or Dubai and participated in dinner in one of her relatives’ house.
On September 3, Rashimi’s sister called her for lunch at her home in Kodikal in the city. Though the lunch was in the afternoon, Rashmi had consumed rat poison in the morning itself and had gone to her sister’s house. After lunch, she started vomiting. A seriously ill Rashmi was admitted to Deralakatte hospital. She died the following day.
Police sources said that Rashmi was addicted to TikTok videos and was very adamant in nature and did not have any other love affair. Sandeep is also of mild nature.
Konaje police have registered a case in this regard and further investigation is on.
