Bengaluru, Sep 6: Assuring over 6 lac government employees his government’s commitment to protect their interests, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has promised to constitute a new Pay Commission for the State Government employees in October.
Addressing a function to present the Sarvothama Award instituted by the Department for Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) in Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday, September 6, he said his government had positively responded to the demands of the government employees and has already issued the necessary orders for launching the Arogya Sanjeevini scheme for them.
The Chief Minister asked the government employees at all levels to work with commitment and dedication to serve the people and discharge their duties sincerely and honesty, especially during difficult times such as natural disasters and the Covid pandemic.
The government employees must be diligent in their service in keeping with the words, ‘Government work is God’s work,’ written on the Vidhana Soudha by remaining true to their conscience. The government employees are privileged to serve the people unlike the private sector employees, who have only duties and responsibilities. The power to help and serve the people must be properly utilized, he said.
Urging the employees to make full use of technological advances in their work and help the drive for digitization of services to provide seamless and hassle free service, Bommai also appealed to the government employees, particularly those in Group A and B, to come forward to adopt cows in the gaushalas as the State Government was looking after over 1 lakh cows, which included a large number of aged animals.
Bommai said he himself has adopted 100 cows and appealed to the employees to join the government in protecting the cows.
Revenue Minister R Ashok, Social Welfare Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, Chief Secretary Vandita Sharma, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary N Manjunath Prasad, DPAR Secretary Hemalatha, State Government Employees Association President Shadakshari and others were present at the function.
