New Delhi, Sep 7 (IANS): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday said that they have arrested a Superintendent of Customs, posted in Ahmedabad, and his accomplice in connection with a Rs25,000 bribery case.
A senior CBI official said that case was registered against the Superintendent, Sunil Menon, on a complaint that the complainant, a partner in a merchant exporter partnership firm, had applied for self-sealing permission for a manufacturing unit and the official had demanded Rs 30,000.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused and his accomplice Pravin Nanjibhai Waghela while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000.
Searches were conducted at the premises of accused at Ahmedabad and also at Kerala which led to the recovery of curtails documents including details of property.
