Kundapur, Sep 8: A student ended his life by jumping into the Varahi river as he was unable to score good marks in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
The deceased is identified as Saieesh Shetty alias Nikki, a resident of Vadereahobli, JBLR road here. He jumped into the river at Herikudru from the bridge on national highway 66.
Saieesh was pursuing his education in a college in Shivamogga. He had written the NEET and was confident of securing 630 marks.
As the result was out, he visited a cyber center to check his marks. He had reportedly scored only 140 marks.
It is said that a few people had noticed Saieesh keeping his phone and bicycle near Sangam bridge. He had jumped into the river, before anyone could make out what he was doing there.
Police, swimming experts, and locals are making efforts to trace the body of the student. As there is the high flow of water in the river, it will be difficult task to locate the body.
A case is registered in Kundapur police station.
