Army conducts airborne insertion, combat' drill


Chandigarh, Sep 9 (IANS): The Indian Army has conducted a major airborne insertion and combat' drill named Ex Gagan Strike exercise, the Western Command said on Friday.

In the combat drills, the Army's ground forces and attack helicopters conducted a drill in Punjab's Patiala that showed swift penetration into enemy territory.

"Ex GAGAN STRIKE practiced combined operations of IA ground forces with Army Aviation in #HeliborneOps to support strike forces deep inside enemy territory. Night operations with precision engagements were conducted by #AttackHelicopters," said the Western Command in a tweet.

Earlier, it said: The exercise achieves synergy between combat elements and aims towards superior offensive capability of the Indian Army".
