Kundapur, Sep 9: The mortal remains of Sayeesh Shetty (18), who jumped into river from Herikudru bridge on Thursday after he got depressed over getting low marks in NEET examination, were found on Friday September 9 morning at Navunda.

Sayeesh had arrived to the bridge on his bicycle and kept the bicycle and his mobile phone on the bridge and jumped into the river. The locals who saw him jumping from the bridge, immediately alerted the police.

Due to the continuous rains that lashed on Wednesday night, the level of water in the river was more which hampered the search operation to find Sayeesh’s body.

Sayeesh studied PUC at a college in Shivamogga. He was expecting good marks in NEET. But got dejected when the result was declared as he did not get expected marks and took the extreme step.

    Education system is only focused on memorization and equality, u can't test with monkey and fish for swimming competition, education system must imply equity based on personal interest of students talents.

    In every village accross native place we are seeing a stupid trend by parents of putting up large hoardings with photos of their children and marks scored. Earlier such hoardings were put up only for deceased. This trend has to stop, it is putting undue pressure on other children to excel in rote learning.

    Extremely sad ..we live in needless competitiveness..comparison etc Every one has a place under the sun ... There are lot of coaching classes .. tuition institutions .. Many are a racket .. Mere getting objective marks .. learning by rote is not sufficient .. Thinking minds needed ... Hope proper guidance .. counselliing given alongwith parents not putting needless pressure .. Life has so many opportunities..when one door closes another opens .. Sadly a life has gone never to return ..

    education has become business !. students customers, teachers resellers ,parents money, management distributors and owners banks!! poor boy...could not analyze the mafia ! wish strength to his parent.

    Where in our country do not require any qualification for PM or President post, why parents are pushing their children to get / bring marks above 95%? Highly educated people in India cannot open their mouth in front of the uneducated leaders. Parents should encourage the children to study but also make them clear that there is a life if not excel in the studies. Very graceful and innocent face of Sayeesh. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

    Really heartbreaking to see the innocent young face... This is one problem society faces at regular intervals... Government must introduce parental as well as pupil counselling well before the start of exams... In fact this can be a part of the daily activities.. Fear of failure and self disgust are the perils of modern competitive exams... Parents have a greater role to play in boosting the inner confidence of their children... Any failure is not the end... Any success too is a part of larger process...
