Bangalore: Mohandas Pai Speaks Against Infosys Management

Bangalore, Apr 20: T V Mohandas Pai, who has come out of Infosys after being its director HR, education and research operations, and member of the board, criticized the top brass of the IT major, Infosys Technologies Ltd, of being conservative in their approach and sticking to age old traditions. He accused the traditional approach of those who are running the company now, and their inability to appreciate change, and also for being responsible for the company having lost its past sheen.
In his interview to NDTV on Tuesday April 19, Pai felt that Infosys had to lag behind in global competition because of the traditional approach owned by its founder, N R Narayana Murthy, and his team of management. “I am worried at the fact that we are not welcoming new ideas and change. While choosing a new leader for the company, seniority can only be one of the issues to be considered, it should never be decisive. Capacity, creativity, and the transformation to be brought about in the company in the next five years should be the decisive points while selecting a new leader,” he stressed.
He said that a few people, who founded the company, took it to new heights. But later, they sat on their past laurels, always stood by what they believed, and refused to hand over the company’s leadership to new generation. He felt that the company is badly in need of young blood, and new thinking. “The people when young have revolutionary ideas. As they grow old, people tend to become traditional,” he commented.
