Countdown Begins for 'Mangalorean Day' - Baila Show to Enthrall Kuwait

Kuwait, Apr 20: “Konkan Kalzan”, the new entertainment wing of Creative Indian Association with their magnificent ‘Mangalorean Day 2011’ to be held in the premises of Touristic Garden, Jleeb Al Shyoukh, on May 6 from 3.00 pm to 10.30 pm. For a nominal fee of KD 2, the park gates will open from 3.00 pm for various activities and attractions like fun games starting 3.30 pm, Housie Housie at 5.30 pm and group dance competition during the event. The venue will have authentic Mangalorean delicacies at the various food stalls, face painting and loads of prizes and giveaways. As the evening progresses around 6.00 pm, the main highlight of the day begins with a musical evening by a promising Baila show by the Mangalore’s very own Mandd Sobhann group with none other than Eric Ozario himself on the lead.



Eric Ozario, the co-founder of Mandd Sobhann and Kalaangann, a born singer definitely needs no introduction. He has composed music for more than 600 songs, presented around 600 shows (as a singer and music director) all over the world, recorded 15 albums (10 of self composed songs and 5 of documented folk) for state and national television.

Ozario has also been twice featured on ‘Surabhi’ – a national T.V. show which features unique cultural achievers and achievements. (Dec. ‘92 and May ‘96). He has undertaken marathon journeys, tours and campaigns to awaken the ‘Konkani heart’ and to create cultural awareness. Ozario has been honoured and awarded by ‘Karnataka Rajya Prashasti’ – ’93 (Govt of Karnataka); ‘Senior Artiste Fellowship’ – Mar 2000 to Feb 2002 (Govt f India); ‘Vishwa Konkani Kala Ratn’ (Gem of Konkani art-world) awarded at the World Convention Dec ’95; ‘Borpi Meetr Award’ – Muscat, Oman – 2003; ‘Sandesha Special Award’ – ‘93; and Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Award’ – ’99 are just a few of his honours.

All his activities are done through ‘Mandd Sobhann’ – the premiere Konkani Cultural Organization. In the year 2008, Mandd Sobhann created a record in the Guinness book of world records with 40 hours of singing for the world’s longest singing marathon by multiple singers titled “Konkani Nirantari” beating Communidade Evangelica Luterana Sao Paulo, Ulbra, Brazil with their record of 36 hours of singing. 

Mandd Sobhann, recently organized the First World Konkani Cultural Convention, from November 25 to December 19, 2010 at Mangalore, Karnataka. This was a 25-day world-level Konkani Cultural Festival consisting of more than 1000 artistes belonging to various castes, creeds, dialects and regions of Konkani presenting Konkani folk, theatre, musical and dance performances. The event hosted various other programmes like the Konkani Film Festival, Food Festival, Youth Festival, Art Festival, Kavita Fest, Konkani Bazaar, competitions in Konkani games, costumes and cuisine, as well as other world-level events.

Joining him in this special event at the Mangalorean Day 2011 will be his wife Joyce Ozario, Prakash D'Souza and Zeena Periera, all the way from Mangalore. The local stars, Rony D'Cunha, Joy Fernandes, Ritesh Ozario, Warren D'Souza and Wanisha Fernandes will add spice to the event, thus making it memorable.

This is the first Baila show being organized in Kuwait and also the first Konkani programme being organized in the open-air. ‘Baila Fiesta’ will present 20 fast and exciting Baila numbers, old popular Baila numbers and Baila masala towards the end.     Guys... you can still make it as the show starts at 6:00pm, even if you have to attend a Communion party on the same day,most of the evening functions start only after 9:30pm

    I was waiting for this show long time. since i got mail, but as loveleen said Around salmiya first communion partys. now my self and other lot of pepole they cannot make it next time any kokani program plz chck church programs also not only other assossian prog. take it possitive All Best for Show

    We were so eagerly waiting for this show, but the First Holy Communion in Salmiya Parish is on the same day and so many of us will have to attend for the communion party in the Night.Really Miss this show.
