Mangaluru: Sexual harassment of neighbour girl – Accused gets 4 years in prison

Mangaluru, Sep 11: Justice Manjula Itti of Additional District and Sessions Court (POCSO) and FTSC-1 of the city convicted a man for sexually harassing a neighbour girl.

Ananda, a resident of Moodbidri is the convicted. On Febraury 12, 2021 at 8.30 PM, Ananda sexually assaulted his neighbour girl. A case in this connection was registered in the women police station of the city. Police inspector Rosamma had filed a chargesheet in this case.

Justice Itti sentenced Ananda to three years of simple imprisonment and slapped on him a fine of Rs 1000 under column 8 of the POCSO Act and one year simple imprisonment and RS 1000 fine under column 354.

In addition, the victim girl will also get a compensation from the government.

Public prosecutor Sahanadevi argued for the prosecution.

    It is really a scandal.For sexual harassment of a minor girl four years of imprisonment and 1000rupees ?Nowadays 1000 rupees have no value at all.If you go to drink a tea ,and a plate of eatery might cost half of it.Why should govt.pay for his fault ?Let him bleed for that.After four years again the same ?Girl is suffering for her life.In future noone will fear for any such act.Shame shame.
