Mangaluru, Sep 13: Just 10 days ago, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi arrived in city for a visit. All the potholes were quickly covered up by the administration. Asphaltization of roads was done on breakneck speed. People felt relieved that the roads are repaired. However, within 10 days the situation is back to square one.
NH 66 was especially repaired before the arrival of Modi. Officials of NHAI stood personally and got the asphaltization of road between NMPT and Kulur. Even the Kulur bridge which is decades old was painted in order to please PM Modi.

It is very rare for potholes to be filled so soon. That is why the matter of repair of roads so fast had made waves on social media. Many even wished that Modi should visit city at least once in three months. But the roads are back to their original potholed look within just 10 days.
Public are expressing their disgust at the cheap work that was done during the arrival of Modi. The Asphaltization was not done properly as a result of which it has come off in patches.
Social worker M G Hegde said that public has to face such issues as there is no transparency and responsibility in the administration. He said that the taxpayers’ money that was used for repair of roads has gone down the drain.
Facing criticism from all quarters, the authorities got the pothole on Kulur bridge repaired later.
