Udupi: Social worker performs ‘Urulu Seve’ on road condemning pathetic condition

Udupi, Sep 13: Social worker Nityananda Volakadu held a unique protest condemning the pathetic condition of road near Indrali bridge on Udupi-Manipal national highway on Tuesday September 13. He made Arathi to the potholes of Indrali bridge, broke the coconut and performed ‘Urulu Seve’ over the road.

Speaking on the occasion, Volakadu said, “Though tender is done for the road three years ago, the road is in such bad condition. No one is raising any issue. Thousands of people use this road every day. Even the chief minister (CM) has passed through this road. Modi or Gadkari should arrive for the road here to be repaired.

“People of Udupi are innocent. Let PM Modi resolve the issue. There are no street lights on the road also. Many cows and calves have died for the same reason. Those who ask votes in the name of cows and calves are not concerned about this condition of road. The asphaltization done when CM Bommai arrived has come off within a day.

“Every day accidents are taking place here. People are facing inconvenience,” said Nityananda.

    Absolutely no doubt, BJP snatched 40% commission. If it was more than 40% then you can do fishing on the roads pond. Jai Hoooo Modiji and Bending Bomma. Front and back engines pulled and pushed to destroy this road.

    First of all India's road making technology is very old. Secondly only a small portion of the budgeted amount goes into actual construction of the road. Rest into the pockets of contractors and Government employees right up to the top. System is corrupt to the core. My Dad was a PWD engineer and was honest and was singled out and hence had hard time in the department. Hence I know these facts for sure.

    I remember, few days ago, one young lady from Udupi posted a video on social media, raising concerning over pathetic road conditions in and around Udupi. Lot of andh bhakths started jumping & defending BJP (double engine?) govt!!! No one can question double-engine.. no matter it is faulty & useless !!!

    This bridge is a bottle neck on Highway between Udupi and Manipal and is prone for accidents. I feel this strech needs a repair and good lighting to avoid accidents. There is a bus stop near it to railway station and we need to look into this issue and I feel government must do it properly unless we act now the road will not be repaired well

    Where are MP Shobha & MLA Bhat??? Promises have been made and the roads condition is pathetic, many people lost lives!!!??? Definitely they will take action if someone from their family loose life, others die is not their problem. Cow Mataa but many died !!!??? RELIGION doesn't provide good roads, health care, food or shelter BUT ENMITY BETWEEN RELIGIONS??? ROAD FOR ALL BUT NAMING ROAD TOO ISSUES!!! 'URULU SEVE' good example for shaming the authorities...

    I saw Mr. Nitya performing the seve at around 10.30 today morning.... It was very difficult to roll down... I salute his concern for people and animals... He does many other noble deeds... However any act will be like ,"Borgalla mele neru suridante"... Our bhatta is sitting pretty on tons of cash and lifted by blind bhaktadi gan... No one can defeat him... Only he has to get vyragya and retire like one earlier veteran did...

    It is only the hospitals/clinics/medical shops/pharma companies that are benefiting from this as more people will become sick due to dust and visit a doctor or in the event of accident need treatment or in the event of death money for post mortem.
