Udupi, Sep 13: Ramjanmabhoomi Trust member and seer of Pejawar Math Sri Vishwaprasannatheertha Swamiji said that people were offering donations to Ram Mandir even now in Ayodhya. Every year around Rs 100 crore is accumulated and the money is utilized in a proper manner.
Speaking to scribes in the city, Swamiji said, “In the beginning, the project was estimated to cost Rs 400 crore. But now the cost has gone high due to inflation and the construction is estimated to cost Rs 1300 crore. It is decided to install the idol of Lord Rama during Makara Sankranti of 2024.
“I have suggested holding a rathyatra from Rameshwar to Kashmir. The aim is to make the citizens of the country participate in the inauguration of Ram Mandir. The role of Lord Hanuman in Ramayan is very vital. Karnataka is the land of Lord Hanuman. This is a proud matter for us Kannadigas. In order to keep that connection intact, it is decided to offer Swarna Shikhara to Ram Mandir from the state. There are many people who have sacrificed their lives for the liberation of Ayodhya. They should be remembered during the rathyatra.
“Discussion were held with regard to the idol of Lord Rama on whether to install elderly Ram or his younger version. Ayodhya had younger Ram’s holy place from ages. So it is decided to have the idol of young Ram (Bala Rama). If the idol is too tall, Bala Rama’s remains cannot be seen. So the idol should be small in accordance with the measurement of eyes.”
